I decided to place an order on Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution after reading a bunch of reviews on it. Seems like a majority of people use it to whiten their skin. What interested me the most is that a lot of people were getting positive results from this skin care product! I think the main purpose of this skin care product is to increase the exfoliation process. That's what I got from reading Maxi-Peel's website. Me, to get rid of my acne and diminish acne scars. That's the only problem with my skin! *sigh* There are 3 levels of Maxi-Peel exfoliants available.
#1 - For Mild Acne
#2 - For Moderate Acne
#3 - For Severe Acne (Pimples, Blackheads, Whiteheads)
I chose #3, since I get cysts, nodules, whiteheads constantly. I don't have thin skin, but it's rather thick. I am on Tazorac, and I got curious. When I bought it (last week), I was very frustrated with my skin. Now, I'm not even sure if I'm going to start using Maxi-Peel or not. I'll get into why after I explain more about the product! Maxi-Peel contains Tretinoin (Vitamin A) and Hydroquinone (melanin inhibitor). The purpose of Maxi-Peel is to increase the cell turn-over rate. Dead skin cells will slough off (similar to Tazorac and other Retinoids available) while Hydroquinone will inhibit the melanin. This is why Maxi-Peel is known to be whitening or depigmenting.
To be completely honest, it took me a while to figure out if I should purchase Maxi-Peel or not. I ended up buying it because it wasn't too expensive. What bothered me was the Hydroquinone in the Maxi-Peel. I'm not a big fan of Hydroquinone. The last skin care products I purchased that contained this ingredient was from Paula's Choice. The ones that contain BHA + Hydroquinone and AHA + Hydroquinone. Neither of them helped with my acne scars. I quit both. Then I found Paula's Choice RESIST Skin Brightening Treatment, which I much, much prefer due to the Vitamin C content with other Vitamins + Brighteners that naturally help eliminate acne scars.
Will I use Maxi-Peel?? It might seem like I'm making Max-Peel look like a dangerous product. I'm really not. I just have a higher preference over skin brighteners that contain Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Licorice, Vitamin A, etc. It doesn't help that Hydroquinone has a bad reputation either. In some countries, it's banned. Since my skin has improved from Tazorac compared to last week, I'm going to hold off using Maxi-Peel. In a way, I'm tempted to do a small area on my face to see how I react to the product. I'm still on the fence and will have to decide soon. If it didn't contain Hydroquinone, I wouldn't have a difficult time choosing.
Onto the packaging:
+ On the box, it says that the formulation contains 25mg of Tretinoin and 2g of Hydroquinone.
+ The purpose is for the treatment and prevention of severe cases of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads by penetrating pores to reduce breakouts, eliminating acne-causing bacteria, dry out blemishes, and remove dead skin cells. It whitens dark spots, blemishes, and other discoloration, such as freckles and age spots to achieve younger-looking skin.
+ It also says that application should be limited to only 10% of body surface (face, neck, elbow).
+ Once a day at bedtime.
+ Wear sunblock. Avoid excessive sun exposure.
+ Dermatologist Tested.
+ Prolonged use beyond 2 months of hydroquinone may cause hyperpigmention known as ochronosis in treated areas exposed to light.
+ It's not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. Not for children under 12.
PICTURES!
After going over the warnings and usage directions, I feel more comfortable. 2 months of treatment is OK. Right now, I'll put Maxi-Peel to the side and continue with my Tazorac treatment. I don't want to add too many skin care products to my skin care routine. I don't want my skin to go nuts. Well, I just wanted to share what I bought and my personal thoughts on it. I hope everyone enjoyed it. :) By the way, I forgot to mention earlier that this is a skin care product from the Philippines. Has anyone used Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution before?

ReplyDeleteI used 2 bottles of Maxi Peel. Here are my thoughts:
Delete2 Weeks into Maxi Peel: http://bit.ly/15kj9vr
1 Month into Maxi Peel: http://bit.ly/17QlzoT
Then, of course, I ran out: http://bit.ly/19g9sCO
2 Months into Maxi Peel: http://bit.ly/1fmWes7
Maxi Peel is a good product. Yeah, and it's inexpensive!! But, I don't think it's strong enough for my skin. It's something I would use on and off. :) It's awesome that you got great results from it! :D
